Sonia Kolner is an illustrator based in the Bay Area. Born and raised in Singapore, she also spent a lot of her life in Zurich, Switzerland.
Being a hapa, she loves exploring a mixture of both European and Asian ways of expression into her work.
Her work is highly driven by psychology and delving into a darker side of it that is often glossed over.
Her purpose of using surrealism is to express how certain emotions are rarely logical or make sense but are part and parcel of life.
When she is not drawing/painting or printmaking, you can find her getting lost in nature, petting animals, and gazing at the moon.
